Simon Dale: Paintings
I have painted most of my life. There have been periods of relative inactivity, but I have always felt the need to come back to painting. I have studied (pre-diploma courses) at Epsom and Watford, and a B.A. Hons degree in Fine Art at Portsmouth Polytechnic, now University of Portsmouth. That was all a along time ago.
Since moving to Sussex in the early nineties, I have always wanted to paint the local landscape. Early attempts were somewhat unsuccessful and a period of alternative creative endeavours, mainly photography, ensued.
In the last few years I have begun to get some way towards painting the landscape in the way I want to. This fragile confidence has led me to gather momentum, and to expand my subject matter. A selection of all my paintings, some old, but mainly new, are represented on this site.
Some of the works have been sold (orange stickers are visible) and almost all of the others are for sale. If you are interested in any of the works, please
and we can arrange a viewing.
Quotidian
Again, I have taken photographs most of my life, starting at around 8 years old, when my grandfather gave me his old Kodak "Brownie". In around 2003-4, when "web-logging" was in its infancy, I found a couple of sites where people had put up modest daily photographs and it struck me as a fine idea.
I quickly designed and set up my own photoblog, and from that time I have endeavoured to post a photograph every day. It is at quotidian.me.uk. Please visit, there are many categories and an archive to explore.
